Vellum House
An independent publisher needed an identity and a type system that could carry fiction, essays, and a quarterly journal.
Vellum published beautiful books with an inconsistent face. Every imprint felt like a different company, and the journal looked nothing like the spines beside it.
We designed a custom display cut and a disciplined editorial grid, then drew a colophon system that signs every imprint with the same hand while letting each keep its voice.
The first season under the new system sold through twice. Booksellers started shelving Vellum face-out — the highest compliment a spine can get.
